Kids’Magination Magazine Submission Guidelines

All submissions, including suggested revisions, (unless the revisions are for an accepted story) need to be submitted through Submishmash. Other submissions sent to our email addresses may be deleted without reading them.
Kids’Magination Magazine, where kids can enjoy learning and reading, is open for submissions of short stories. We want stories suitable for 10 to 14 year-olds – stories that will excite the reader found in all kids, of all ages, youth and adult. We love stories that are engaging for young and adults readers alike.
We accepts most genres of fiction, although we do have a weakness for fantasy, and a general bias against anthropomorphic stories, which tends to be overdone. Please query prior to submitting a story about a talking cat, or bird, or dog, or whatever.
We will pay $5.00 per story.
We accept reprints, but they must be clearly labeled when submitted.
For all works we require:
- Non-exclusive world electronic rights for use by Kids'Magination for 12 months;
- Non-exclusive rights to indefinitely archive the work online or in an electronic downloadable version of the online magazine
- Warrant that he/she is the sole author of the work, that the work is original, and that no other entity has reserved the rights required by Liquid Imagination.
- Warrant that the work does not contain libelous material or material copyrighted by another party.
Art and Illustrations
Size limit: 2 MB file
We would love to have art and illustrations geared to kids and are looking for artists to whom we can send stories on a rotating monthly basis to be illustrated. We pay $5/illustration, and often use up to two illustrations per story. We also have opportunities for cover art, at $5/cover.The art needs to be appropriate for elementary-aged children. We'd love to see fantasy elements in it, but that is not a requirement. Please include in your cover letter if you are willing to create artwork for designated stories.

Kids - submit your story or art
Size limit: 750 to 2000
If you are under 13, your parent or guardian may submit your story to Kids'Magination. Cick on the Submit button and follow the instructions.
Your parent or guardian must include the following statement in the cover letter of your submission along with his or her name and email address:
I am a parent or legal guardian of the named author. I understand that the named author, who is under the age of 13, wishes to be published by Kids’Magination, which is part of Silver Pen Incorporated. I further understand that I will receive a separate contract for publishing the work should it be accepted by Kids’Magination, and that I may ask for the child’s published work to be removed at any time. In addition, I have discussed online privacy issues with the user.
Wait for us to review your story and get back to you. Remember, not all stories are accepted, we only accept one story and one piece of art created by kids each month. We will try to explain what could be improved in your work if we feel it needed more work. Good luck!
If we accept your story or art, you will then be asked to to the following
1) Go to http://www.kidsmagination.com/KM_parental_permission.pdf
and download and print out the permission form.
2) Give the permission form to your parent or guardian and ask them to fill it out, sign it, and send it back to us.
3) Once we have received the permission form, we will email you a contract that your parent or guardian will also need to sign.
4) Your story will then be published at Kids'Magination
